MEDICAID
WAIVERS
Medicaid
is
one
of
the
primary
supports
for
people
with
disabilities.
Generally,
Medicaid
is
available
to
low-income
families
and
those
receiving
Supplemental
Security
Income
(SSI).
However,
certain
individuals
with
special
needs
may
qualify
for
benefits
and
funding
through
a
waiver
program
called
the
Home
and
Community-Based
Services
Waiver.
The
Home
and
Community-Based
Services
Waiver
has
more
liberal
financial
eligibility
guidelines
that
are
NOT
based
on
family
income.
When
you
receive
services
through
the
Division
of
Services
for
People
with
Disabilities
(Division),
you
may
be
eligible
for
a
Medicaid
waiver.
By
using
Medicaid
waivers,
the
State
of
Utah
receives
federal
match
dollars
to
help
fund
services
for
people
with
disabilities.
